Previously, in Volume 2: Blood, Sybil exchanged The Necronomicon, for her friends held hostage by Ex-CIA agent Harry Brown. Then an ATU strike force shows up, and Sybil is seriously injured after a gunfight.

Jack Hunter, head of the ATU—Anti-Terrorism Unit—orders the doctor to wake up Sybil in sickbay. He demands some answers, but when she awakes, he discovers she’s a vampire.
